Ineke and Christine

Ineke is one of our cheerful receptionists and will often be the first smiling face you see when you enter the clinic. She has spent many years working with animals, first with the Calgary Humane Society, and then in veterinary clinics.

As a volunteer for several different rescues, she has fostered animals for more then 25 years, and most recently, for our own Cowichan Cat Rescue. Ineke loves animals and is grateful to have the privilege to work with your pets and our fantastic team every day.

Originally from Holland, she moved with her husband and two daughters to Vancouver Island six years ago. Her fur family consists of one old rescue dog, an English Cocker Spaniel named Tommy and five foster cat failures😃. Her interests are travelling together with her family, including pets when possible, hiking and being in nature.

Christine is our head technician, and she trumps us all with her vast experience.

She has been working in veterinary clinics since 1987, and graduated from Cariboo College ( now Thompson River University) in 1992, having achieved her Registered Veterinary Technician certification. We welcomed her to Shawnigan Vet when we opened in 2018, and before this, she worked in mixed animal practices. After all these years she still loves what she does, especially the opportunities for continued learning.

Our whole team values the wisdom she shares with us every day. Christine’s pet family includes 3 cats and one dog. In her free time, she enjoys her excellent garden and walking her dog.
